Blendy Star app for iPhone and iPad

Five and six year old students learn to blend sounds to make words using 65 games and exercises, including finding initial and ending letters, rhyming words, syllables, spelling tests, and segmenting assessments. There is a teachers mode for direct instruction.

There are 12 letter balls focusing on that particular letter. Each letter ball contains five games with 6 words each. Each game has students blend letter sounds, spell words, or identify letter sounds. Each spelling test asks students to copy the words on to paper for additional writing practice.

The teacher’s mode has expands each game for up to 12 words per game. There are fewer directions to allow for teacher interaction. There is also a testing section with 5 tests covering syllables and identifying sounds in words.

Tapping on the ‘help’ button will repeat the current word. Tapping on the ‘Blendy Star’ title will show the current word list and list of games. Tapping on the ‘Blendy Star’ picture will repeat the directions for the game.
